Thank you.
On May 9th, 2018, Governor Phil Murphy made good on his commitment to have the backs of Dreamers by signing bill S-699, which opened the doors to higher education for thousands of New Jersey immigrant students. That win builds on a fight led by undocumented youth from groups like Wind of the Spirit, the New Jersey Dream Act Coalition and many more who first won access to in-state tuition in 2013.
Thank you to our legislative sponsors, Assemblyman Gary Schaer, Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, Assemblywoman Mila M. Jasey, Senator Teresa Ruiz, Senator Sandra Cunningham, and Senator Nellie Pou for your extraordinary leadership.
Deep appreciation to New Jersey Policy Perspective for leadership and compelling research, to the ACLU of New Jersey for their key counsel and vision.
Many, many thanks to Latino Action Network, American Friends Service Committee, New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, The Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc., UndocuRutgers, RU Dreamers, We the Dreamers, UndocuJersey, Faith in New Jersey, Rutgers AAUP-AFT, New Labor, New Jersey Working Families Alliance and so many others for your unwavering commitment.
This win is a FIRST STEP to ensuring that New Jersey is a fair and welcoming state; we must continue to rise up in the face of racism and bigotry. Please continue to follow nj4dreamers.com for updates!
We also extend a huge thank you to all of the members of Make the Road NJ's Youth Power Project for the website concept and layout, and for their invaluable feedback and insights throughout its creation.
